Location: Castellammare di Stabia is situated approx 16km SE of Naples.
General overview: The port is mainly used for unloading cereals.
Ships' services generally arrive via Naples where there are also a number of agencies.

Tanker regulations for Italian ports: Tankers over 1,600gt, entering or leaving Italian ports and carrying, or with uncleaned tanks which last carried, petroleum, gas or chemical products, are required to make a comprehensive report to the appropriate Port Captain.
 Such tankers must establish and maintain radio contact, preferably by VHF, with the Port Captain, advising him immediately of incidents or defects which may affect the safety of navigation or cause pollution. Pilots should be employed outside the areas of compulsory pilotage whenever the nature of the cargo or navigational conditions, including visibility require.

Pilot: Compulsory for all vessels over 500gt. Pilot boards at the limit of the compulsory pilotage area in   40° 42'.60 N      014° 27'.35 E. The compulsory pilotage area is an area bounded by the coast and by the circumference of a circle, radius 1nm centred on Molo Foraneo light (40°41.9'N  014°28.42'E). The pilot is available on request

This anchorage is untenable with strong winds over force 7/8 between NW and WNW.
 An oyster bed is situated on the W side of Molo di Ponente. Vessels should not approach within 0.45nm of the W side of this mole.
 Tidal range and flow: Range approx 0.34m.
 Dock density: 1025.
 Weather: Prevailing winds: NW'ly.
 Principal navigation aids: Castellammare di Stabia main light structure, a white tower on a white three-storey building 16m in height, stands close S of the harbour.
 Obstruction lights mark 2 radio masts painted red and white in bands, 85m in height, which stand 2.25nm SE of Castellammare di Stabia main light structure, at an elevation of 1,335m.
A light structure (green metal column on pedestal, 5m in height) marks the head of Molo Foraneo.
Molo Sottoflutto, which is marked at its head by a light structure (red mast, 6m in height), extends approx 240m NW from the coast SE of the head of Molo Foraneo, and forms the NE side of the harbour.
Charts: BA 916, 908. Admiralty Pilot NP46.
 Restrictions: Vessels should not approach within 200m of the underwater breakwaters laid parallel with the shore and centred approx 0.275nm E, 0.35nm NE, 0.45nm NE and 0.8nm NNE respectively of the head of Molo Foreaneo.
 Tugs: Available if ordered via Naples.
